Jen's Pink & Zebra Baby Shower



This was a really fun event to plan. Planning events like these comes easy when you love the person its for! The theme for this shower was the very trendy Pink & Zebra. My friend and I thought of some pretty cool ideas to share with the guests. Enjoy!


The centerpieces were these "Rattles" that were made of hot pink carnations. I used 4" and 3" inch oasis balls. After applying the flowers (about 80-90 carnations per centerpiece) the size of the flower balls (pomander) is 12" and 10". Here is another picture where you can see just how big they turned out.




 Below is the candy bar. It initially started as a milk and cookies station but our love for everything sweet kicked in and thus the candy bar. There were little goody bags where the guests could fill up on candy to take home for their kids. It was a very popular and fun addition and Im sure it made the kids at home pretty happy too.




Also made these vanilla cake pops dipped in chocolate and decorated with some white sugar candies for the candy table.



 We also had a Design a Onesie station. We purchased different sizes to grow with baby Kylie. Make sure these are done during the beginning of the shower to give them plenty of time to dry!! 



Close up of the sign on the table. I used scrap paper from the invite (had a ton of scraps) and embossed the letters using stamps. I made the "clothes line" out of floral wire and coat hangers.



Dad really does own a shotgun! I made this closer to the end of the party which is why there are smudges everywhere.



Other onesies came out awesome and added to the decor.

The fireplace was adorned with candles, bud vases and a pink frame. Close up below.



The picture in the frame was also done with stamps and residual paper from the invites.



Finally a little diaper cake stroller that gave me so much trouble I'd rather not even think about it!

This is one of the best cake ideas I've ever seen. This was not my idea, it was done by two very crafty friends of mine. It was so incredible that I had to share it.  Please notice that you can actually "play" with this cake!!!! GENIUS!

Wall Decor

We are renters so the things we do to our home must be temporary.White walls can make a space look drab and boring esp. an office. So I decided to try something new.  I saw this TV show where they used fabric to cover walls by only using starch.  They made the process look so easy so I decided to try it! I went out and bought the necessary items for this project 1. Fabric 2. Starch (about 2 big spray bottles). That's it! Below are step by step pictures and some tips.

 The Fancy fabric I used


Step 1. Spray Starch on your wall and place fabric over starched wall. Not as easy as it looks, use tacks on the top to keep the fabric in place, if you don't, you run the risk of putting your fist through your lovely wall. Take my word for it. Also make sure to spray starch on the fabric once its on the wall... makes it adhere so much more.



I made a bad move buying this fabric since you have to line up the design at the seam. It took a terribly long time to do this!


Once all the fabric is applied, let it dry. When dry cut away extra fabric with an X-acto knife.


TIPS: As you can tell when I measured the walls and the fabric I was supposed to have 5 inches of space  on the left and right border (first picture shows that i started 5 inches in) What I didn't account for was how much the fabric stretches out with starch. The fabric stretched out an extra 10 inches! so I had quite a bit left over (oh well)

The room after. As you can see the fabric puckered and the seams moved, but I love it. Makes the room feel so warm and cozy.  I'm sure if you can avoid this problem by choosing a fabric that is either a solid color or by choosing a fabric that has a larger design.

After the starch has dried it makes the fabric feel somewhat like a pinata. To remove, get a spray bottle and fill it with water and fabric softener... soak the fabric until it starts to peel off and gently remove fabric. You can wash your  fabric and use it again for another project : )

Hana Bless

We got back a few weeks ago from Hana. This was another remarkable trip. We saw some old faces and met some new ones too. Hana always has a way or replenishing areas in my life that were made weak. Its truly such a refreshing trip and I cant wait until next year.
